It is easy to forget that breast cancer can be a severely traumatic and emotional experience for those who are very close to you. The online breast cancer support groups also have areas where your friends and family can get together, share experiences and draw comfort and solace from each other. They can also discuss topics like the effectiveness of medication, new or enhanced treatment techniques etc.

You may have the benefit of loving and supportive family and friends and you may feel that you don't need a hospital-based or professionally organized support group. However, remember that a support group can be a very educational and enlightening experience. Even if you derive no other benefit from an online support group, you will have the satisfaction of having supported others who may not be close to their families and who will be grateful for your help, advice and participation in the group.
